Hidden Windows XP Sound Track

Windows XP has a hidden sound track which plays as background music during Windows XP installation process, but most people can’t hear this music because they have a soundcard that won’t have drivers preinstalled on XP. Here’s a way to uncover it:

Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\oobe\images,

Then go to Tools > Folder Options > View, check Show Hidden Files and Folders options and then uncheck Hide Protected Operating System Files. You will now notice a file called title.wma, that’s the hidden sound track!

(Step 2) In right windows, double click Start and change the Value Data [0x00000003(3)] to  [0x00000003(4)]
        *3- for enabling
        *4- for disable the same
(Step 3) Go to this path C:\WINDOWS\inf and check for the file usbstor.inf and give full permisson to ur login id… Try after each step, hope this would help to get the access to USB.

Tips 4:

For fast Shutting down in XP,

  * use Group Policy Editor [for Windows XP Professional]
** Click Start, Run and type "Secpol.msc"
*** Click Local Policies | Security Options

In the right-pane, set Shutdown: Clear virtual memory pagefile to Disabled

This is not only cause for slow shutdowns. Non-responsive programs and Services also contribute to slow shutdowns. Lowering the WaitToKillServiceTimeOut may help may help as well.
The WaitToKillServiceTimeout value name in the registry allows you to specify a length of time that the service control manager must wait for services to complete the shut-down request. Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

Reduce the Service timeout value (default being 20000ms) to your preference. This is kill the non responsive application while shut down.

IE search settings in Regedit – Tips 3

~~Cool Tips ~~

There is a cool discovery (not by me :-)) which I would like to share with you all…
If you modify the registry settings of Internet Explorer then you can achieve the following results…

eg. If you want to search for "cyberiafreak" on google then simply in the IE address bar you can type

g "cyberiafreak"

or if you want to search the meaning of smother in dictionary you can do some setting like

d hack

msdn lifecycle

Now have a quick look at the settings that you will have to do in the registry… For ease I am pasing my exported registry… Copy paste the below text in a notepad and save it as "IEQuickLaunch.reg"… After saving it double click on the file which will import the settings to the registry… Do note that you will have to be the admin of your machine to change the registry settings…

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchUrl]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchUrl\d]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchUrl\g]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchUrl\msdn]

The above settings will get you the following shortcuts, you can then add your own…

1.) g searchword [will search google with search word]
2.) d searchword [will search dictionary with search word]
3.) msdn searchword [will search msdn with search word]
