Security briefings @ Hotel Capitol , BLR

Microsoft Security Technet Session : Hotel Senate, BLR  – a report !!!
Oh thank god, atleast i got half day permission[1-4.30 PM] for attending security briefings.
Because of ISO Auditing in my company, situation forced me to sit upto 1’o clock. As soon as I got permission, jumped into an auto, rushed towards hotel and it was exactly clock ticking 1.30,without hesitation i started having my lunch @ hotel which includes fish items and few chicken pieces :),little bit rice & fruits.
Session 1[2.00 PM]"Debunking security Myths" -by detlef eckert,MS,Australia

 1. Secure platform – OS related
 2. Imp of updates mgmt – updated patches..
 3. Active protection technology – blaster live protection etc..
 4. Enabling security business scenario – PKI, double authentication etc..
 5. Security Eco system

He also shared few tools related to security,

*MSBA [ MS baseline sec Analyser ]
*MS Antispyware – GAINT [acquired by MS]
 *Malicious code removal tool
*Antivirus – Sybari[antivirus company acquired by MS] and GECAD [ own virus engine ]

Then screenshots of above said tools, boring same known stuff. As a security geek :), this session idea was known to me via newsletters and security bullentins mails. so nothing special.
Session 2 : "TCP/IP Archi for Security Administrators" by Steve Riley, P mgr, MS, Redmond
This session was quite interesting covered almost everything about network protocols and vulnerabilities. He talked about ARP, SYN flooding, Spoofing, Hijaking, UDP, SNMP, TCP.IP,DOS, middle man attacks etc. But no demo 😦

During session tea break, collected my free CD’s/stuffs,again rushed towards office. Arey still that ISO meeting is going in conference room…:( but seminar really gave me a worthfull day again.
